The Shu Uemura cosmetics counter inside the Brea Mall Nordstrom recently closed.

The counter closed Aug. 28, said Greta Smoke, a spokeswoman for the shopping center.

The Shu Uemura store at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa closed in June.

L'Oreal USA announced in March the closure of its U.S. operations for Shu Uemura cosmetics, a Japanese brand that has been sold in the U.S. since 2004. It did not give closure dates then and said it would vary for each location.

"Shu Uemura is a unique and vibrant brand, but it represents a very small part of our luxury business," Carol Hamilton, president of L'Oréal USA's luxury division, said in a statement earlier this year. "We decided that L'Oréal USA would be better served by focusing on our other strategic luxury brands like Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Kiehl's and fragrances."

Shu Uemura, which can still be purchased online, also sells false eyelashes, skin-care products and makeup tools.
