| Lamya Abedin's Al Sultan Collection for Eid Posted: 21 Aug 2010 07:39 AM PDT August 21, 2010: One of the main and greatest empires in history was the Ottoman Empire. This has now become the basis of inspiration for Lamya Abedin's latest Sultan Collection. In this collection Abedin presents a total of 50 unique pieces that showcase the prosperous sartorial legacy of the Ottoman epoch. Abedin proclaims that cultures and countries have always been the means to the creativity and the Ottoman Empire was an embodiment of such motivation. This empire showcases several ethnical diversities, a certain coming together of both the east and west and also highlights a very rich artistic vitality. The modern Maghrebin themed restaurant has become an apt background to Abedin's new collection. The legendary Giorgio Armani contributed to the Arabesque looks of the models and Jacques Dessanges of Paris took care of their hair styling. This collection almost equated to that of taking a History major class. Abedin spent several days researching, paintings as well as etchings of the Ottoman period that showcase both fashion and costumes of that certain prevalent time. Several of this research also went into understanding reportage on many histories of the international costumes with a particular focus on Ottoman Era. Extensive research was also made on the Ottoman history as well as Anatolian civilizations. --SAMPURN This entry passed through the Full-Text RSS service — if this is your content and you're reading it on someone else's site, please read our FAQ page at fivefilters.org/content-only/faq.php |
